Get your Honey Bunny some Easter Treats!

It is that time a year again…time to get together the cutest basket you can find, the messiest Easter grass possible, and all kinds of cute things to put in it.
When making a child’s Easter basket or any kind of Easter basket it is common to put candy, cute Easter bunnies, and something that that person might like such as a toy, or a gift certificate, etc.  When you are making your Easter Baskets this year don’t forget about your four legged loved ones. They would like a few new delicious dog treats or a new toy too.
Our boutique is the perfect place to find all the treats that will make you cuddly buddy’s mouth water! We have a wide variety of Doggie Easter Treats!  Our Easter Sampler Treats would be a great addition to their basket with each doggie treat shaped into a bunny or Easter egg and then topped with our delicious Yogurt Topping.  If you wanted to keep it a little simpler you could grab them a Gourmutt Easter Bone Treat which is made with peanut butter, whole wheat flour, and honey. They are pre packaged into gift bags with 4 bones per bag!  They are guaranteed to be drooling for more!
If you are looking for something a little easier, where you don’t have to deal with that messy Easter grass or get them a basket …you should try our Easter Gift Box Treat. This Gift box is a pre-made Easter Gift. The treats are made of peanut butter, whole wheat flour, and Honey. This box would be perfect for the little “hopper” you love to death.
These Doggie Easter treats and Dog gifts that we have to offer are assured to make your little “bunny” have the best Easter ever. They will be begging you to Hop on back over to get them some more of our delicious items that we have to offer.

Don't forget your Party Animal!

Since Mardi Gras in New Orleans officially starts today, February 12th 2010 there is purple, green and gold everywhere!

Because many of us can’t be in New Orleans for this festive and fun event we have to bring the festivities to us!

Maybe you are attending a Mardi Gras party in your neck of the woods or maybe you are hosting a Mardi Gras themed party yourself. It would only make sense that when you are buying the Mardi Gras beads, plates and party accessories that you not leave your little “party go-er” out either.

A Mardi Gras dog tee would be cute, or possibly you have a spunky little diva girl who wants to be the center of attention, try the Bright Mardi Gras Feather Dog Tutu and Coordinating Hair Bow.

Maybe your dog isn’t into dressing for the occasion, you could slide on the Mardi Gras hair clip and still be a part of the fun! How about a festive Mardi Gras dog party collar or put some beads on your dog, but be careful that they don’t get tangled and only keep on for some "party pics".

Any direction you go to dress your dog for a occasion, make sure it is a comfortable fit for your pet. Some dogs just don’t like to be dressed up and some love the attention and will sit patiently while you try different outfits on him. Just be patient and find the right fit.

So, whether you are on Bourbon Street or in the Northwest or snowy Dallas, remember you can still throw a party for Mardi Gras and dress everyone to the occasion! Mardi Gras is still a great choice for a themed party any time of the year, whatever the party, don't forget your dog, this biggest party animal of all!

Let the snow fall......... but not on your pup!

With all the snow and ice this winter it is so important to remember a few tips for your pooch to stay warm and healthy.

Please do not assume that your dog does not need fresh water. Snow does not equal water. Eating the snow requires a lot of energy and the amount of water is less than the amount of snow in the first place. After a bowl of snow melts, it will only be a small amount of water. Keep your snow bunny hydrated with a clean dog bowl and plenty of water.

Yes, there is such thing as snow poisoning. A dog needs more water in the winter as his body uses more energy to keep warm. Snow poisoning is a term for a dog who is not hydrated by water and is surrounded by snow. Also remember, eating snow is not always healthy as it can be dirty as it falls off roofs and is mixed in with the elements of your yard.

Protect your pup’s feet. There are many little snow shoes or dog boots available to help protect their paws in the cold elements. Ice can hurt their paws and they can become dry and sometimes crack.

Always make sure you have adequate dog housing for your buddy when he is outside. Don’t leave him outside for an extended period of time. Make sure that his house is off the ground and that it is a covered resting area.

Small dogs or those with little to no hair should have dog sweaters or dog jackets for protection against the cold and the harsh winter elements.

If you suspect a winter warning coming your way, there are things you need to think of as well as your human families and their needs: make sure you have plenty of dog food, a fresh water supply area, and some warm bedding if they have to stay outside.

Most dog owners already know a lot of this stuff, but if you are a new dog owner or have a elderly parent of family member with a pet, remember to help them out by reminding them to take extra care of the sweetheart this February when winter can hit hard.

Nice house + new puppy = priceless

So you’ve gotten a new dog? Congratulations!

You have now joined the millions of pet owners in the world that adore and enjoy their dogs everyday!

There is so much to look forward to as you begin a part of your life with your new friend. Frisbees, chew toys, and (hopefully not) shoes marked with teeth marks, will soon litter your floor or backyard. If it gets too much, there are wonderful pet toy boxes to get now, not just for kids anymore!

Unfortunately, many owners regret the addition of their new friend because they were not adequately prepared. Remember, it’s just as important to make your home “pet friendly”, as you start to build a close relationship with your pet and start from the beginning by training and teaching him good behavior.

Just a few quick suggestions can ensure that your home is safe for your pet, and enjoyable for you and your family.
  • Avoid vertical blinds, tie up drapery cords, and move most dangling items higher. If a dog gets caught in anything, it’s all coming down and could hurt your dog as well!
  • Wrap up all electrical cords in a durable plastic casing.
  • Check your yard and around your house for things that can be potentially toxic to your dog.
  • Install pet gates at locations around the house that you don’t want your dog venturing into. Giving your pet boundries is a great way to start your training.
  • Get pet toys, or chews to keep your dog busy and make sure that he has adequate dog bedding and or dog crates if you are going to crate train your pet.
A general rule of thumb is to consider what precautions you would take if you brought an infant home and go the extra mile to ensure that your pet is safe and happy and look forward to a lifetime of love from your new best friend!

Remember, training your dog is your responsibility as a new pet owner. Be patient with your little one as he is learning how to please you and how to adapt to being in a new home. Just think of Marley in the famous Marley and Me movie. It wasn't so easy to love him starting out, then.. it was absolute love.
