Be a Devoted Pet Lover - Become a Foster Parent

If you are a pet lover and have some extra space and time, Dog Fostering is the way to go. Not only can you show some love but you can possibly save a dog and assist in finding the dog a wonderful home.

You can always help any animal group or any animal by fostering pets in your own area or community. Fostering is needed so badly these days especially with our economic times we are facing. So many families are having to give up their pets for financial reasons, health reasons or because they just no longer can take care of their animal.

You can contact animal welfare groups that often are listed in the phone book or you can find online and reach out to them about being a Foster Parent. Ask about information on how to foster and all the responsibilities that go along with fostering a dog.

Things that you need to ask when talking to the animal groups:
  • What supplies are going to be needed?
  • What are your expenses going to be?
  • What supplies does the group offer?
  • What is the average stay of a pet in your home after you receive them?
You can also download a list of pre-fostering questions and review with family members that will be helping out and assisting in the fostering.

Petfinder says that the typical stay for a dog in your home is two to three months. You will need to fill out a Foster application and explain the reason(s) you are interested in fostering.

The agency will then send out someone to inspect your home and may ask for a list of references, including vet information.

If you are unsure about the local agencies in your area regarding pet fostering, you can go to The Pet Foster Network and you can search for agencies in your area and locate the one that is right for you and your family.

It's never too late to love, especially the ones that unloved. Love a dog today and become a foster parent.
