Doggie Couture Shop welcomes National Dog Day

Celebrate National Dog Day This Week with Posh Puppy Boutique!

Join the Posh Puppy Boutique as we celebrate National Dog Day on Friday, Aug. 26.

Created to both honor dogs and help adoptable pets find new homes, you can save lives and help make shelter dogs’ lives more comfortable while having fun in the process.

How? By donating pet food, blankets, towels, cleaning supplies, money and the most important gift you can give—volunteer time—to your local shelter or pure breed rescue organization.

The single most important steps you can take are:

· Adopting dogs, especially older ones that have problems finding homes, from local shelters.

· Make sure your pets are spayed or neutered to reduce pet over-population ad lengthen their life spans.

· Ensure your pets are current on their vaccinations and medical exams so they can live long, healthy lives.

· For other steps—including some fun ones—visit http://www.nationaldogday.com/ways_to_celebrate.htm

There are several fun ways to celebrate National Dog Day, too!

For example, you can give your dog a new collar and leash then take them for a nice long, relaxing walk. Consider walking down Olvera Street in Los Angeles while your pet wears our Day of the Dead Handmade Harness ($250). It has hand-stitched details and deerskin lining.

Is your favorite little girl a diva? Get her a Diva Dog Monogram Collar (small only) for $28. Another option is to outfit her with a collar and leash from our Katrina Collection. Collars start at $34 while leashes start at $31.

Another way to celebrate this pet-friendly holiday is by giving your special four-legged someone a new toy. Our designer-inspired toy section has nearly 50 plush toys to pick from, like this Kate Spayed pink purse toy ($12) or this Chewy Vuiton Bone ($15).

A great treat for your pet—every second they spend with you is priceless to them—is to brush them. Groom them with comfort for yourself by using our Ergonomic Rake With Rotating Pins Brush ($25). The special ribbed handle gives greater control and helps reduce fatigue while the pin design remove loose hair and tangles with ease.

For these and many more ideas, visit the Posh Puppy Boutique or call 888-837-5230.

For the lonely dog.. shop Doggie Couture Shop!

It's so easy to be overwhelmed right now. After all, school starts in a week or two (or maybe they already started for you) and there is so much to get done before then. You know, your running around printing "School Supply List's" off etc..., attending meetings, shopping for school clothes etc.

Folders, binders, pens and pencils—you name it! Whether you are preparing your kid's for their big first day of elementary or their final year before college, there will be more than one lonely family member in the house. Back to school means a lonely dog.

Back to School also means you will not be home as much as summer because of the Friday Night Football games, Saturday volleyball games, Band concerts, etc. More events to take you away from home. Again... an empty house equals a bored pup.

After a summer of being napped with, played around with, and being taken on family vacations—the letdown can be devastating for your pup. So add another thing to that shopping list when you go - a dog toy for your pup!

Dog toys can keep your furry friend occupied for hours until they wait for their favorite student to come home from school. Browse Doggie Couture Shop's wide selection of dog toys, everything from Loopies dog toys to the more traditional Tug-of-war dog toy in case you have multiple pups!

By providing your pet with a new dog toy, you'll nearly ensure that they will be too preoccupied to tear up anything in the house while you are at work! For the bigger dog, check out our selection of dog toys for big dogs like the Rubber Chill Pill Dog Toy. The Paw Tracks TireBiter Dog Toys will be awesome to keep that big dog busy. Get in several different sizes to fit your dog's size.

Please remember that nothing takes the place of good old love and attention during the sad time for your dog. But it can be a bonding time for you and your dog as well. Dogs can indeed get "separation anxiety" so to keep him or her OUT of "dog therapy" - shop Doggie Couture Shop today!

Heading down the highway with Doggie Couture Shop!

As summer is nearing its end, there are still plenty of vacation opportunities for the family! Wherever you choose to go, remember some of these important tips when bringing your furry friend with you! Doggie Couture Shop wants you to take him or her along - no one takes care of your pup like you!

Bring pet identification. You never know what will happen—car stops at a rest station and Fido hops out of the car and takes off! Your kids go NUTS - your freaking out! Having proper identification on your pet, whether it is on the dog collar or microchip, will better your of finding your pet in the unfortunate case that they get lost.

If you choose to bring your dog in a pet crate, make sure the pet crate is comfortable. Just like your fellow travelers, dogs appreciate space and being comfortable on long road trips. Make sure the pet crate is large enough for the dog to lie down and stand up. Don't forget giving the dog something to do during the long hours, toss in a favorite dog toy or dog blanket to make the trip a bit more relaxing.

Food and water for your pup. Just like humans - dogs can and often do get carsick during a long drive on an empty stomach; help prevent this by feeding your pup before the drive and making sure they have opportunities to potty (and clean it up!) and get refreshed at stopping points during the drive. There are perfect travel water bowls such as the Water Rover 3" Bowl.

Doggie Couture Shop has the perfect dog items for their trip- great pet identification tags, dog collars and dog leashes to keep up with them.

There is a large selection of dog crates and dog crate covers as well in the Doggie Couture Shop Auto and Pet Travel section and plenty of dog toys, dog blankets, dog treats and even potty dog items cause you WILL need 'em.

All in all, enjoy your trip! Just remember these simple tips for your next trip and the drive will be much more fun for your family and your pet!
