It could be SPOOKIER than you think!

Yes, Halloween is a fun time for the whole family but can be a bit scary for Fido. If you have a uptight pooch or a shy doggy, this can be very stressful for dogs and pets of all kind.

The doorbell "ding donging" non stop, strangers approaching and loud trick or treaters..can honestly get the best of anyone! Can you imagine what your pet is feeling? All these odd people in big hats and spooky voices yelling at the front door “TRICK OR TREAT”!

There are steps you can take to help your pooch with the wonderfully spooky holiday!

  • First thing you can do is keep calm! Be relaxed and he or she will pick up on that
  • Do not force your dog to approach spooky yard decorations or laughing skeletons.
  • Be careful forcing to your dog to lay down or “be nice”, aggression often comes from dogs that are forced into a “spooky” situation.
  • Utilize his or her crate if she is crate trained. Put in another room with a favorite toy and turn on the TV for sound.
  • If your dog is allowed to be in with the excitement, what the front door, as they can bolt out quickly and with all the HOOPLA going on, they could run into the street.
  • Keep candy away from your dog! Sometimes while checking the candy or wiping off the face makeup from our little human ghouls, we forget about our pet being in the living room susceptible to yummy Milk Duds! If you suspect that Fido has enjoyed a Milky Way, call the Animal Control Hotline at 1-900-680-0000. Remember: Chocolate can be deadly to dogs!
  • If your dog is chained, Please Please unchain and secure him or her inside or in a crate. Chained dogs are always vulnerable to cruel or mischievous actions, so please don't take a chance.
  • Lastly, if you are going to dress up your little Weiner in the newest Hot Dog Costume, please don’t make him or her wear it for hours!
There are many yummy Halloween treats for Dogs during the night to keep him or her happy during the events! Precious little Halloween dog toys and wonderfully tasting chews, that is how your dog can also enjoy the night without being medicated.. :)

Don't forget a costume for your Halloweenie!

While getting ready to carve your pumpkins and get out your scarecrows, don’t forget to shop early for Halloween costumes for you kiddo AND your pet!~ Yes, I said your PET!

Pet costumes are a BIG thing these days. Doesn’t matter if you have a small, short, big or dumpy dog, there are costumes and outfits for each one. There are also many sizes as well. Maybe you have a large dog, or a super petite baby, whatever.. they have it!

We always know what our kids want to be for Halloween as they start to tell us months early however since our dogs cannot express what they want to be; we must go with their personality.

Maybe your dog is rough and would like to be a biker , or soft and sweet and could be a fairy princess. Maybe he is short and squatty like mine and wants to be a hot dog, or a little grumpy and would like to be a witch. Whatever your dogs “mood” or “demeanor” there is a dog costume for yours!!!

All outfits are pet friendly to fit well, allow mobility and very affordable. Buster may or may not really want to dress up but hey… what’s one more complaining? Isn’t that what parents are for?

So, don’t forget your “man’s best friend” and the one that is “always there for you”. Get an outfit, or toy or even just a neck scrunchy for your dog but please don’t leave him out.

Posh Puppy has the latest Pet Halloween costumes and in order to get in time, order early!
